Principal Major Applications Planner - Outside of IR35

A rare and exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Principal Major Applications Planner at a dynamic and forward thinking local authority in the Home Counties.

This council is currently driving forward innovative Town Centre and urban renewal projects as part of an ambitious programme of growth development and investment.

As key figure within a vibrant development management team, you will play a key role managing a caseload of large-scale major and strategic planning applications that will include strategic residential led schemes ranging from 200 to 400 units with commercial, retail, public realm and associated community infrastructure.

Moreover, in the future there could be the potential to work on phased major sites applications in the Greenbelt.

Additional components also include entering in to complex negotiations with leading developers in relation to PPA’s and pre-app stage stages to facilitate the delivery of high quality development.

 Key responsibilities include;
 

• Manage and process a caseload of large-scale major and strategic applications consisting of residential led mixed use, tall buildings, community infrastructure, and commercial developments etc.
• Facilitate close liaison with major developers, architects and external consultants through paid pre-application meetings.
• Negotiate complex S106 agreements in conjunction with discharging conditions and finalising reserved matters.
• Draft detailed delegated reports and present at committee
• Conduct member briefings, engage with regeneration teams and consult with local community groups
• Contribute to the development of masterplans and foster close working relationships with the councils regeneration teams.

The successful Principal Major Applications Planner will have acquired practical experience as a Senior or Principal Planner in development management with an aptitude for processing large scale major applications through the planning system.

In addition you must have a natural enthusiasm for Planning and major development with an aptitude for dealing with complex planning issues.

Applicants must have a degree in Town & Country Planning and excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
