Tameside is one of ten authorities forming the Greater Manchester City Region and is a great place to live and work.  It is well connected with the wider city region and is located close to the Peak District National Park.

Tameside Council is embarking on an ambitious programme of economic and housing growth with the recent launch of our Inclusive Growth Strategy, emerging Housing Strategy, Housing Delivery Plan and Low Carbon Strategy.  To deliver these ambitions for growth and regeneration the Council continues to invest in its planning service.

An opportunity has arisen for a Planning Officer within the Development Management team to process minor category planning applications and provide pre-application advice in a timely and professional manner.  Whilst this will be the primary focus, there will also be opportunities to work with senior officers to assist on more complex and high-profile projects to help you gain additional skills and experience.  In addition, you will help influence ongoing service improvements to provide an efficient customer-focussed planning department.

This presents a great opportunity for you to develop your career by building upon their existing experience in a Development Management orientated role.  You will have excellent communication skills which you will use when liaising with Elected Members, applicants/agents, and other internal and external teams to provide advice and assistance as required.   You will also provide support to Assistant Planning Officers and Graduate Planning Officers within the team to help develop their skills and expertise.

In return, we can offer you a chance to thrive and develop your career in town planning.  The position is permanent with a competitive salary, opportunities for further training, and support in working towards RTPI membership.

Tameside Council is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community and we will be pleased to consider applications from candidates looking for flexible working arrangements.
