Exeter is a thriving and vibrant city based within the fabulous county of Devon. It is a great place to live and work with easy access to beautiful open green spaces within the city and, of course, the beautiful moors and beaches of rural Devon.
At Exeter City Council, we pride ourselves on being more than your average city council. We share with key partners an ambitious vision for the future of the city: “By the time they are an adult, a child born in Exeter today will live in a city that is inclusive, healthy and sustainable – a city where the opportunities and benefits of prosperity are shared and all citizens are able to participate fully in the city’s economic, social, cultural and civic life.” (Exeter City Vision 2040).
To deliver this Vision, the City Council is proactively developing plans for its Liveable Exeter programme, a transformational programme to deliver up to 12,000 new homes for the city in sustainable and inclusive urban communities.
This is a rare opportunity to become a permanent, full-time member of the Major Projects Team within City Development. In your role you will be responsible for managing and processing planning applications for major development projects from pre-application discussions through to final delivery. You will have a positive, proactive attitude and be comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, but most importantly a commitment and passion for delivering high-quality designed development that contributes to the City’s vision and net zero carbon ambitions.
The Council operates an agile and flexible working policy to provide a good work-life balance. At present, home working is still encouraged.
