Who?

We are looking to expand our planning policy team and we are advertising a number of roles to support the delivery of our Local and Neighbourhood Plans. Delivering the Local Plan is a key corporate priority and we are invested in providing opportunities for both keen and talented planners at either a Senior level or Team Leader level.

What will you be doing?

This is an exciting time to join us at Wealden. We have high levels of housing need, including affordable housing, pressure to deliver growth in our towns and rural areas, opportunities to deliver employment growth, new and improved infrastructure and community facilities, as well as delivering on our climate change emergency and protecting and enhancing our environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of Wealden, to refine your skills and expand your planning experience by leading on a diverse and broad range of priority projects and policy areas, as well as representing the Council at meetings. This will be a challenging but rewarding position and you will be expected to hit the ground running with the ability to make a significant contribution to the progression of the Local Plan, its supporting evidence base and other strategic matters.

What do you need?

You will be a Chartered Member of the RTPI or the ability to meet the full criteria for Chartered Membership, in addition to substantial planning experience at a senior level and a knowledge and understanding of planning issues and policy matters. You will have experience of leading a team, have a flexible approach to work and have excellent problem solving skills. You will also be a team player and a strong communicator with excellent negotiating, leadership and motivational skills.
