37 hours per week

Situated in West Hertfordshire, the Borough of Dacorum is composed of the main towns of Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring, with large areas of Green Belt and Outstanding Natural Beauty, historic settlements and buildings.

We are seeking to appoint two Planning Officers to join our Development Management Team for approximately a twelve month period.

Our benefits include generous holiday entitlement (plus opportunities to purchase up to five days annual leave), 18.5% employer contribution pension scheme, family friendly policies, support to study, reimbursement of professional subscription, personal development, car salary sacrifice scheme, flexible working patterns, interest-free rail/bus ticket/cycle purchase loans, and working in our modern office building.

The successful candidates will take responsibility for the efficient management and processing of a caseload of planning applications and related determinations, notices and orders through all stages of the development process from pre-application advice, statutory process and delivery, in accordance with performance targets and standards. This will include preparing reports for Committee and attending Development Management Committee (during evenings, as required) and preparing statements and proofs of evidence for appeals. You will be liaising with our customers ensuring that complex matters are explained politely and professionally.

The role offers the opportunity to develop skills in the above with support and guidance from the Team/Assistant Leader and wider Development Management Team. The role is offered on a career grade structure and salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

Applicants would ideally have a Town Planning qualification or related subject and will work towards eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. You must also have a full driving license that is valid in the UK and access to a car.
