About the role
Hillingdon Council are recruiting Graduate Planning Officers to work across 2 new Area Planning Teams that are being created as part of an exciting transformation of our Planning Service.
This is an excellent opportunity for ambitious and capable individuals to start their planning career. The role will provide opportunities to develop your practical planning knowledge under the successful guidance and support of a team of experienced planners. The post holder will be responsible for determining a diverse portfolio of planning applications and appeal work, developing your knowledge of planning related legislation.
As an essential part of a high performing Development Management team your focus will be on results, you will need to develop a good understanding of the planning system and a willingness to learn. Good communication skills and knowledge of standard IT packages will also be required.
Reporting to the Planning Team Leaders and Principal Planning Officers, you will need a positive and proactive approach to work. The role will provide an opportunity to gain experience across a range of projects and will involve networking and community engagement.
As a Graduate Planning Officer, candidates should have relevant Town and Country Planning or equivalent qualifications. You will be working towards membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute and have a sound theoretical understanding of development control/development management processes within a local government setting. This is a great opportunity to develop your planning knowledge and practical planning experience whilst working towards becoming a Planning Officer.
