Job Details
The Planning Enforcement team comprises 3 FTE Planning Enforcement Officers receiving around 600 planning enforcement cases a year. Supported by the Planning Manager and two Senior Planners, you will be responsible for your own caseload, which will primarily involve researching site histories, carrying out site inspections, recording and collating evidence and assisting with the issuing of formal notices.
This varied, interesting and rewarding role includes liaising with members of the public, internal staff and Councillors, and a broad range of external agencies. It therefore requires diplomacy, effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with confrontational situations, and may occasionally require giving evidence at Court and/or Public Inquiries.
Experience of planning enforcement or other similar investigatory work is essential.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Clare Eynon (Planning Manager) by email clare.eynon@stratford-dc.gov.uk or via switchboard on 01789 267575.
You will enjoy an excellent benefits package including a minimum of 23 days annual leave, flexi-time and a local government Pension Scheme.
An application form and job description can be accessed via the website, www.stratford.gov.uk, alternatively telephone the 24 hour answering service on (01789) 260711, or e-mail sitsvac@stratford-dc.gov.uk. The minicom number for Elizabeth House is (01789) 260747.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Thursday 22 July 2021. Interviews will be held virtually on MS Teams during w/c Monday 2 August 2021.
The Council supports Equal Opportunity of employment, and positively encourages applications from people with disabilities.
