Planning Policy Officer

Our client is a Local Authority based in the Midlands which requires a Planning Policy Officer to assist them with the preparation, monitoring and review of their Local Plan.

You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing a number of Local Plan policies and proposals including site appraisals, sustainability appraisal and the District, Local and Neighbourhood Centre Review. You will regularly produce reports and briefing papers for senior management and councillors as well as prepare business cases, risk assessments and proposed solutions to deliver the Council's statutory planning function. You will also be required to provide policy advice on major development proposals.

The successful candidate for this role will need a well rounded knowledge of current UK planning legislation. A minimum of 4 years recent work experience within a UK local authority planning policy team is essential and an appropriate degree level qualification is required.

This role will initially be offered as 6 month contract but it is expected to be extended beyond this. The rate will be £30-£33/hr inside IR35 depending on your experience. This will initially be a home working role but you maybe required to work from the office a couple of times a month in the future.
