Planning Manager (Development Management Manager) - Remote Working

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Planning Manager at a diverse and progressive London Borough Council that is rapidly becoming a hub for growth and development.

 

This is an extremely high-profile position where you will be responsible for the front line management of the Development Management Service overseeing three teams across DM and Planning Enforcement as well as reporting directly in to the Head of Planning.

 

In addition, you will lead on the delivery of high-quality schemes across the borough through the provision of management support and finding good development focused outcomes through innovative thinking particularly in relation to Strategic and Major Applications.

 

Furthermore you will monitor and manage the progress and implementation of service delivery plans, coordinate budgets and build robust and cohesive relationships with members and key stakeholders such as the GLA and TfL etc.

 

Key Responsibilities;

 
 

• Manage the Development Management Service
• Monitor budgets and allocate resources to ensure compliance and meet statutory obligations
• Deliver high decisions on major and strategic applications
• Implement and deliver service improvements
• Work collaboratively with other municipal services encompassing housing and regeneration
• Lead on high-profile strategic pre-app and PPA negotiations to ensure that major development schemes match the borough’s ambitions for regeneration and growth
• Identify development needs of direct reports through personal and professional development
• Deputise for the Head of Planning when required
• Represent council at committee and public inquiries etc
• Undertake Member Briefings and engage with key stakeholders
• Trouble shoot, identify and unblock bottle necks in the planning system

 

As lead figure with the corporate structure, you will have acquired practical experience Development Management Manager or Team Leader.

 

You will have a degree in Town & Country Planning and as well an in depth practical knowledge of planning legislation and will have led on the delivery of large scale major and strategic applications through the planning system.

 

Moreover, the successful candidate will have natural drive and enthusiasm for planning and an aptitude for finding innovative and creative solutions that may arise during the planning process.
