It is an exciting time for Planning at Erewash Borough Council and we need two Senior Planners to help deliver our ambitious plans for growth and our strategic objectives.   

We are looking for forward thinking, enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our proactive, award-winning and customer-focused Development Management team. 

Senior Planning Officer - Development Management

Full Time (37 hours per week) / Permanent

The full-time Senior Planning Officer post will carry a caseload of major and complex planning applications and associated work alongside the Principal Planning Officer. 

Senior Planning Officer - Major Projects

Part Time (18½ hours per week – working pattern to be agreed) / Temporary for 2 years

This is a very exciting development opportunity for an experienced Planner to concentrate on major planning projects. 

The temporary part-time Senior Planning Officer for Major Projects will be specifically responsible for the delivery of strategic planning applications emanating from the council’s emerging Core Strategy Review. These include emerging proposals for an 80 hectare employment site at the New Stanton, and a 1,200 home urban extension of Kirk Hallam.

Centrally located between Nottingham and Derby with good transport links, Erewash is a diverse borough encompassing the towns of Long Eaton and Ilkeston surrounded by the rural Green Belt.  Our ambitious and focused work includes the delivery of around 6,600 new homes through the Erewash Core Strategy Review, and ensuring the council realises the maximum potential benefits of the proposed HS2 hub station on our doorstep.  We are now investing in additional resources to strengthen capacity and deliver these strategic objectives.  It certainly is an interesting and exciting time to join us. 

About You

You will need experience of dealing with a wide, diverse and interesting range of applications and associated work and have a problem-solving and proactive approach to delivering quality outcomes including complex and major applications.

As a committed team player you need good written and verbal communication skills.  Dealing with customers is an important part of the role and you must be dedicated to providing high quality customer service.

You must be a full member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and a diploma or degree in Town Planning or equivalent.
