The county council is in the process of developing and delivering a truly ambitious plan for growth which is vitally important to drive economic recovery and fully realise our potential for the benefit of all our residents, businesses and communities. Our ambitious and focussed work comprises of a multi- £billion pipeline of regionally and nationally significant projects alongside strategic infrastructure programmes.  Our current portfolio includes:

  • The delivery of the £160m Samlesbury Enterprise Zone
  • The £125m Eden Project North
  • Lancashire Central at Cuerden, Lancashire's prime mixed-use strategic employment site
  • Plans for Preston City Centre to maximise the opportunities of HS2
  • £140m South Lancaster Growth Catalyst
  • Lancashire-wide Infrastructure Plan
  • Lancashire Economic Recovery Grant Programme

 

These will shape and transform the county's identity for many years to come, essentially 'redefining Lancashire', bringing thousands of new jobs and increasing investment and skills.

 

We are now investing in additional resources and creating a dedicated multi-disciplinary Major Project and Strategic Development Team to strengthen capacity and deliver an extensive programme of development projects, major transport and highway interventions to an accelerated programme. The new positions will complement the existing Strategic Development Team, within the Growth Environment and Planning Directorate, and assist in the delivery of our challenging and exciting vision.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced planning professional, who is self-motivated and able to work in a pressured environment as a specialist-planning professional, to join this team.

The successful candidate will support the Planning and Project Manager in providing planning advice to enable the delivery of our key sites. This will involve working across development management, implementation and planning policy disciplines.

You can expect to be active on a number of projects and work-streams at any given time, working in collaboration with other specialist disciplines and key partners – these can vary in both scale and nature, making the workload extremely interesting.

About you:

You will have a relevant planning qualifications and have two or more years post qualification relevant experience in the public or private sector.

You will be eligible for membership of the RTPI.

You will be able to demonstrate your ability to satisfy the conditions and requirements of the attached Job description and Person specification.
