Our client, a local authority in London, is looking for a conservation officer to lead, plan and deliver an expert professional service within the relevant service area. To support other senior officers and managers in the delivery of town planning services with regard to conservation, listed building and other heritage-related matters including providing a customer-focused service which maximises service outcomes in relation to cost.
Job Specific Accountabilities:
To provide, at a senior level, specialist expertise and guidance to officers, members, developers, the public and other stakeholders on all aspects of building conservation and listed buildings in relation to both development and regeneration initiatives and in the development and review of the Council's planning policies.
To lead and have key responsibility for the preparation and monitoring of conservation area appraisals and management plans, advice notes and other conservation and listed building matters and related planning guidance for the Council and external use.
To represent the Service at a senior level at officer group meetings, project meetings, committees and public meetings, and with external strategic agencies (e.g. Historic England, GLA, Design Council/CABE etc.) as necessary.
To lead and have key responsibility for the implementation of appropriate conservation, listed building work and other related projects and programmes (e.g. Historic Buildings Grants, Environmental Initiatives Programme, Design Awards, Open House London etc.) and be responsible for the delivery of projects to agreed timescales and resources, in addition to all related financial and budgetary matters.
