Our client is a Local Authority based in the East Midlands and they have a requirement for a Planning Policy Officer to join their dynamic Policy Team. You will be involved in a range of policy related work and be expected to contribute towards the development of planning policies in accordance with national policy, regulations and best practice. This is a fast paced team and you will have a real opportunity to shape the council's policy for the benefit of their residents.
Specifically this hire will be asked to play a major role in the preparation of the review of the Council's Local Plan, with an emphasis upon infrastructure related matters, including:
" Liaising with partners and stakeholders in respect of the development of the evidence base to support the Local Plan review;
" The commissioning and management of studies in accordance with the Council's procurement procedures;
" Producing reports both for internal and external partners and stakeholders;
" Developing policies and options for inclusion as part of the Local Plan review;
" Preparing for and attendance at meetings as required.
To apply for this role you will need previous experience within a local authority planning policy department. You will need to have a good knowledge of UK planning guidelines and relevant legislation and an appropriate level of qualification expected to undertake a role of this nature. You will need to be well organised with good data management skills and the ability to manage a large amount of complex information. Good communication skills are essential and you will need to be able to work with minimal supervision to deliver the project. A degree in planning or other appropriate professional qualification is required.
This role will be offered for an initial 3 month period and the rate offered will be between £30-£37 per hour inside IR35 depending on your experience. This will be a home working role.
