Development Management Officer

*URGENT* Planning Officer (DM) – 3-6 Month Contract – West Midlands OUTSIDE IR35

My client (a local authority) is looking for a well experienced planning officer to come in and help the team with a backlog of applications for an initial 3-6 month contract with potential for extension. The team are working fully remote with site visits being conducted once per week/fortnight.

Day to day responsibilities:

• Effectively processing a wide range of applications for residential householder and commercial developments.
• Carry out site inspections and negotiations with applicants and or their agents and specialist staff
• Looking to process applications and approvals – including minor applications.
• Provide town planning advice, negotiations, discussions and guidance to councillors, applicants and members of the public and local community organisations.
• Dealing with your own caseload.
• Prepare appeal statements and evidence for hearings and public inquiries

Requirements:

• Experience working in a local planning authority
• A deep understanding of how to process a variety of applications. (both Householder and Minor)
• Able to work to tight deadlines and execute tasks in a timely fashion to meet the needs of the project.
• Relevant knowledge of latest planning legislations and procedures
• Experience of investigating potential breaches of planning and advertisement

Further details:

This role is on a 3-6 month initial contract.

It will be remote working but with occasional site / office visits.

They are looking for an immediate start.

The rates for this role will be negotiated depending on the individual experience and will be discussed at interview stage. They are looking at £20-£24ph OUTSIDE IR35
