Principal Planning Officer

Our client is a very busy council in North London which is seeking a Principal Planning Officer to work on major developments with a number of their partners. The role will involve carrying out a full range of development management functions and assess all types of planning and associated applications but with a focus on major complex planning and associated applications.

You will assist the Team Leader in managing the statutory Development Management functions, prepare reports and recommendations, deal with major planning appeals in your area and act as the Council's expert witness at Public Inquiries, Informal Hearings and Court Hearings, particularly where complex planning issues require a high level of experience and expertise.

You will also be required to negotiate agreements under S106 of the Town and Country Planning Act where appropriate to secure wider environmental and community benefit from development.

Applicants must be qualified Town Planners with demonstrable experience of dealing with large scale proposals, within a local authority setting. You will have given evidence at appeals, have project management experience and have the ability to manage a team. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience.

This is a contract position which will initially run until early August but could be extended and our client is offering £350/day (inside IR35). Please get in touch for further details including a copy of the JD.
