Temporary for one year to cover maternity leave
Closing date: 23.05.2021
Ashford Borough is a rural borough located in the Garden of England. We are an ambitious and innovative authority seeking new ways of improving how we deliver services for residents. Ashford is a great place to work because our staff are committed, friendly and passionate.
Due to an officer taking maternity leave, an opportunity has arisen for a one year temporary contract in the Development Management Team – Planning Applications. You would be managed by a Deputy Team Leader assisting the team with the delivery of high quality, customer focused, development management services and you will also have the opportunity to gain experience of presenting applications at Planning Committee.
We are looking for a Planning Officer with experience of determining a varied caseload of planning applications, answering planning enquiries, giving informal planning advice, attending and sometimes representing the Council at appeals and writing both delegated and committee reports. This post requires a relevant degree/diploma in Town & Country Planning with a couple of years planning experience in a planning environment and ideally working towards RTPI Membership. In addition, you will need good IT and communication skills together with an enthusiasm to contribute towards shaping the Ashford of the future whilst conserving the character and natural beauty of the area.
You will need to demonstrate that you have experience of handling a caseload of planning applications and the administration of planning controls and regulations. You will have the ability to organise your own workload, work to tight deadlines and it is essential that you are a car user.
For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Oliver Peel on 01233 330278 or Paul Howson on 01233 330237.
