Job Details

Brentwood is an exciting place to be – we are delivering a new Local Development Plan that will maintain our borough’s unique village character whilst maximising opportunities for growth. We are sustainably growing in areas to be served by Crossrail and through the delivery of one of only 15 garden settlements across the country (Dunton Hills Garden Village). We also have ambitious plans for economic growth, enhancing Brentwood Town Centre as a business and retail destination and delivering new employment land at Brentwood Enterprise Park.

The challenges are also great, so Brentwood Borough Council is moving fast to transform the way that we deliver local services and do business. We are seeking someone who relishes being part of a team to find innovative ways of facing these challenges.

You will be part of a team at the forefront of the Council’s ambitions for positive change, supporting the delivery of our new Local Development Plan and supporting the progression of the Council’s economic aims, as set out in our Economic Strategy. These are key documents that will shape the Borough’s future.

You should have strategic planning experience, a planning related qualification and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligible for membership. You will possess up-to-date knowledge of the Town and Country Planning system, national policy/guidance and legislation, able to communicate effectively, be thorough and well organised. You will be self-motivated and able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.

Detailed information around the role and its responsibilities can be found in the Job Description and Person Specification on our website.

The Council is committed to ensuring the borough remains an attractive place to live, work and visit.  If you are excited by this opportunity and can meet our requirements, then you should apply.

For an informal discussion about this vacancy please contact Jonathan Quilter, Strategic Planning Manager on 01277 312735

Brentwood Borough Council is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.  People with disabilities will be offered an interview where they meet the Essential Criteria on the Person Specification.
