Excellent opportunity to join one of the busiest planning authorities in London and take up a key support role in their team. As a Technical Support Officer you will be involved with a range of administrative functions concerned with the processing of planning applications (including pre-applications, appeals, and issuing of decision notices) and the day-to-day support for Officers within the Development Management and Enforcement team.
Typically this will include receiving and logging applications, scanning and uploading onto the relevant database, validating applications to check for content and preparing documents to be used in planning committee meetings; you will also assist in drafting planning notice letters.
Other duties will include dealing with inbound calls and providing advice to customers. On a day to day basis you will deal with a high volume of enquiries and you will help manage a busy flow of emails. Another key function of the role will be utilising our clients document management system to index application documents.
This role would be suited to a Graduate in Town Planning with experience within a similar role who is looking for their first career step and exposure to public sector town planning work or someone with good admin skills and previous experience within town planning and therefore a good understanding of the terminology and the planning application process.
The role is based in South London and will initially be offered for 6 months but is likely to roll on for some time as this is one of our busiest clients. The rate offered will be around £18-£23/hr inside IR35. This will be a home based role though you might be required to carry out site visits.
