Conservation Officer (Heritage)
Cambridgeshire
Salary £35,432 - £39,877, + benefits.
12 Month FTC
My client is an innovative and forward-thinking local authority, whose residents are at the heart of the decisions made.
They are passionate about providing high quality services to their communities, residents and businesses and this means employing and retaining the most talented and dedicated people. Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, the Council is in a beautiful and historic district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity.
Due to the nature of this role requiring site visits you must be able to commute to the Council at least once a week). This fixed-term opportunity is offered on a full-time, part-time or condensed hours basis.
With demonstrable knowledge of and experience in implementing legislation relating to listed buildings and conservation areas, the Conservation officer will help to create, protect and enhance the district's environment through the provision of specialist technical advice on a variety of heritage issues.
Working as part of a busy and supportive team, you will provide appropriate specialist input into the assessment of proposals and works which may affect heritage assets including listed buildings and conservation areas.
Skills and Qualifications:
-Hold an appropriate qualification
-Capable of working independently and able to manage a large and varied caseload
-You should be an excellent communicator and be able to build relationships
-Able to provide specialist technical advice to the public, developers, agents, members and other council departments
-Worked as a Conservation Officer / Heritage Consultant previously
-Hold a valid driving license to attend site visits
