We have 2 positions up for grabs for the right candidate, one could be yours! The posts allow for flexible and remote working.
You’ll assist the Team Leader (Strategic Applications) in leading a team in the Development Control Group comprising two planning officers. Primarily you will also be responsible for managing the throughput of planning applications and representing the Council at Appeals under the direction of the key leadership ensuring effective service provision and compliance with Council policies and practices.
Bearing this in mind, you’ll analyse and appraise Planning and other applications giving due regard to all development plans, proposals, policies and public comment. As well as undertake further analysis and site inspections as appropriate, providing reports and recommendations for the Service Manager’s consideration and presenting reports to Development Control Committee if required.
Thus provide guidance to other members of a development control team and ensure that the Division’s aims and performance standards are met through cohesive customer focused and professional approach
About you
You’ll have comprehensive knowledge of Development Control work in a Local Planning Authority, including representing a LPA at Public Inquiries or others forms of planning appeals.
Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills to deal with difficult enforcement matters and give advice to people inside and outside the Council. The ability to manage a complex caseload and direct the work of others to achieve strict targets and deadlines
You’ll have a Degree in Town and Country Planning or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience and have demonstrable command of the principles and practices of Town Planning and of the Enforcement provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act
Able to attend, traverse and make visual inspections on sites and attend meetings throughout the Borough.
This is a public facing role so you will need to be able to communicate fluently in speaking and writing English
