Our client is a local authority based in South Yorkshire and they require a qualified Town Planner to carry out a role within their Development Management Team. You will examine and evaluate a large caseload of minor and householder applications made under the Town and Country Planning Acts and related legislation. You will be required to provide pre-application advise, assess whether proposals are in accordance with Council's policies and liaise with officers of other directorates on matters arising from planning.

You will be expected to carry out this role with limited supervision so must have at least a years recent experience of working in a similar role for a local authority and understand the pressures involved in this type of role.

Your knowledge of current planning legislation and guidelines will need to be fully up to date. You will need to have good communication skills as you will be dealing with a wide range of stakeholders on a daily basis to convey complex, detailed information in a clear, concise format.

This contract will be offered for 3 months but due to the volume of work our client has there is potential for an extension beyond this. The rate offered will be between £22-£24.70/hr inside IR35.

Our client has asked that CV's contain metrics where possible (i.e. provide details of number of applications dealt with and speed of processing).

This will be a home based role but you will need to carry out your own site visits about once a week/every other week.
