Sedgemoor District Council has an ambitious growth agenda that seeks to maximise the benefits of its location on the M5 growth corridor, proximity to the nearby Hinkley C nuclear power station, Europe’s largest construction project, and the attractiveness of the surrounding high quality environment that includes the world famous Somerset Levels and Moors.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen to work within the Planning Policy Team with a key focus on supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure necessary to enable growth. Whatever form the next plan takes, the district faces key challenges of delivering high levels of housing and employment growth.

The successful applicant will lead on all aspects of infrastructure delivery in the district working closely with partners such as Somerset County Council, the Environment Agency and Highways England as well as major housebuilders and developers. They will also support the local plan review including updating of the infrastructure delivery plan and be expected to client consultant commissions.

The successful applicant will have a degree in town planning or related subject. They will need to be enthusiastic, have a flexible approach to working hours and be a team player.
