Job Details
Eastleigh Borough Council is an ambitious and progressive Council and we are recognised for our innovation and achievements, whilst delivering a high-quality service to our customers and the community.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Planning Enforcement Officer to join our busy and friendly team and help us deliver an effective enforcement and compliance service covering all unauthorised developments as well as ensuring compliance with approved plans, conditions and planning obligations.
You will be responsible for investigating complaints of planning breaches and proactively monitoring sites. Many breaches of planning control can be resolved through negotiation but in some cases you will be required to pursue formal enforcement action, including drafting reports and formal notices and dealing with appeals.
Candidates must have a good enforcement knowledge and experience and be conversant with reading and interpreting technical drawings and planning policies. Opportunity is available for training and developing your experience within the rewarding and interesting role.
You will be required to liaise with a variety of people including landowners, developers, Councillors and members of the public, so excellent customer care skills, particularly diplomacy and tact, are essential for this role along with good written, computer and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to sometimes deal with a conflict situation.
Please note that you will require a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes together with the appropriate business cover insurance.
If you are excited by this opportunity and feel you have the skills, experience and attitude we are looking for we would love to hear from you. At Eastleigh, we are committed to supporting and developing all our staff and creating a culture that is inclusive, innovative and enjoyable. We offer a good range of benefits and facilities and support our staff in maintaining a good work/life balance through our innovative flexi time system.
We also have an excellent package of benefits including:
- 25-28 days annual leave dependent on service
- Flexible working arrangements and ability to accrue up to 2 days additional leave per month
- Defined Benefit Pension Scheme
- Places Leisure, Eastleigh – 30% off Full Membership
- Confidential Employee Advice and Support Programme
- Car and Season Ticket loans
- Excellent working environment
- Support for continuous professional development
- Good work/life balance
