Our client, a leading multidisciplinary consultancy who provide expert services to a range of large clients are looking for a Senior Planner or a Principal Planner to expand their team.

The ideal candidate(s) will have a key interest and/or experience with EIA and have worked on large projects that include residential, minerals waste, leisure, mixed use and large energy projects such as solar.

Flexible working!

For the right candidate they are very flexible with working arrangements and although the office is based in Leeds you would only be expected to be in once every week or so when things start returning to normality.

Additionally if you are looking for a reduced hour arrangement this could be ideal for you!

About you:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a professional Town Planning environment.
  • Planning qualification (RTPI or MRTPI)
  • EIA experience
  • Good project management experience
  • An ability to solve complexed planning issues in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication, influencing and report writing skills
  • Ability to build collaborative and sustainable relationships

An MRTPI chartered planner with previous experience within a planning consultancy, developer or local authority, ideally with an interest in in EIA and environmental aspects of planning.

Your understanding of development management within the planning process, as well as your commercial awareness will be very important in this role.

Role specifics

In this role, you will be provided with a wide array of clients, leading you to work on a range of energy, brownfield, residential and commercial development, leisure and mixed-use schemes.

An ability to be client-facing and communicate well with local authorities, landowners, developers and architects will be fundamental to this role. You will be responsible for providing clients with viable planning strategies in a comprehensive and timely manner.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and EIA work
  • Conducting research and site appraisals;
  • Liaising with sub-consultants;
  • Developing client relationships;
  • Helping provide support to junior Planners


Depending on your experience you'll be offered a generous remuneration package up to £50,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience plus other benefits.
