The borough of Basildon is alive with opportunity and has the ingredients to be one of the most successful and desirable places in the South East. As the largest economy in the Thames Estuary outside London, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved but we are never complacent.
We are driving inclusive, sustainable growth to provide opportunity and prosperity for local people and businesses, access to quality homes, vibrant town centres and an enhanced local environment. We have ambitious plans for our towns, and we are looking for an individual to ensure those plans are realised.
You will join the Council’s planning team, working with friendly and supportive colleagues and dealing with a wide variety of planning work relating to the future growth of our borough with a particular emphasis on dealing with major and strategic planning applications and supporting junior members of staff.
Decisiveness and ambition for our borough are key qualities in this role so that you discharge our important statutory functions, play a key role in advising on and facilitating effective service delivery.
A keen collaborator and team player, you will have the ability to work across the planning function of the Council; with the opportunity to work within the development management, enforcement and strategic policy and implementation teams.
As a strong communicator and negotiator, verbal and written, you will undertake all areas of planning for the local authority, including attending developer meetings and committees.
If you would like to be part of Basildon’s success, we look forward to receiving your application.
