Career Grade Officer (CIL/S106) SO1/PO4
Career Grade Officer (2 posts) Fixed Term up to 2 years
Islington is a diverse and vibrant inner London borough, which continues to experience a large amount of development and change. We have imaginative planning policies, a positive and open attitude to growth, and a desire to secure development which addresses key local priorities such as maximising the delivery of genuinely affordable housing.
Planning obligations and community benefits are at the heart of planning. We are looking for a dynamic and hardworking individual, to join the Council’s Planning Obligations Team. You will be responsible for working with developers and council departments to ensure compliance with S106 agreements, as well as be involved in the implementation of the Community Infrastructure Levy. You will play a key role in the process of allocating CIL and S106 funds to deliver key projects across the Council. This process involves extensive collaboration with elected Members, senior council officers and external organisations. Your main focus will be to contribute towards achieving sustainable development, and ensuring that developer contributions deliver benefits to the local communities.
We are seeking to fill two posts in the team. For one of the posts we would welcome applications from graduates or people at an early stage of their career. For the other post we would welcome applications from those with having had some experience working in a planning department previously or with a background in regeneration, community planning and other relevant fields. You will have strong problem solving skills, ability and aptitude for joint working across different technical disciplines, and strong IT skills, particularly with Excel. Some experience of financial and project management would be desirable, but not essential.
The posts offer a friendly team environment, flexible working hours, generous annual leave and a pension scheme.
Please note we operate a generic job description, which covers a range of roles falling within different specialist fields.
