Are you looking to broaden your planning experience with the challenges of working in a District which not only has a thriving economy and pressures for growth, but also covers part of the South Downs National Park, the natural beauty of the Chichester Harbour AONB and a rich and varied heritage, including the historic City of Chichester?

Chichester District is a highly attractive place to live and work, home to a number of historic towns and villages, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Centred on the historic cathedral city of Chichester, it is a large district stretching from the south coast to the Surrey border and includes a large part of the South Downs National Park and the tranquil Chichester Harbour AONB.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to deal with a range of major and significant planning applications or pre-application enquiries and there is the opportunity to provide mentoring to junior members of the team. The post is suitable for a qualified and suitably experienced planning individual with excellent communication and presentation skills. You should have a minimum of three years post qualification experience and ideally some previous experience of dealing with complex planning applications. You must be positive, well organised and committed to excellent customer care.

Chichester District Council offers flexible working patterns including homeworking, the option of a 9 day fortnight, in addition to options to buy additional annual leave, and payment of RTPI subscriptions. The Council recognises the importance of staff well-being and promotes a healthy work/life balance, including the ability to operate from home as well as from the office, reduced membership fees at Everyone Active leisure centres and access to a wide range of other fitness activities and social clubs. Staff can use an additional 30 minutes per week towards any Wellbeing service we provide at the council or to take part in a class at an Everyone Active Leisure Centre.
