We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for planning and a positive can-do attitude to join our friendly Development Management team at Lichfield District Council in the senior post of Principal Planning Officer (Enforcement).

Lichfield is one of the finest cathedral cities in the country, which offers an exciting challenge - protecting and enhancing a high quality environment while managing the delivery of sustainable economic growth.

Ideally situated in the heart of the Midlands, with our offices based in the historic centre of Lichfield, we are within easy reach of Birmingham and the District includes beautiful countryside including an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This presents a broad range of development opportunities, challenges and pressures for the District.

We offer flexible working arrangements, essential car user allowance, payment of RTPI professional fees, together with a generous annual leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and a positive approach to employee wellbeing.

In this role you will lead the small planning enforcement team, which has responsibility for planning enforcement and High Hedge matters. You will have your own enforcement caseload and also have direct line management responsibility and lead on the performance of the team.  In addition you will be responsible for the development and implementation of planning enforcement policy and procedures for the Council and provide support to the Planning Development Manager on wider management matters for the Development Management team.

You should be a qualified planner (MRTPI) with significant experience of planning enforcement, including with local government.  You should demonstrate good organisational, communication and negotiation skills and have a positive approach to planning enforcement, with commitment to the Council's values to improve & innovate, put customers first and have respect for everyone.

Please note that you will require a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes together with the appropriate business cover insurance.
