Community First Oxfordshire

Community Planning Officer

28hrs p/w – £32-35k per annum pro rata

Community First Oxfordshire (CFO) is a community development charity which helps communities and individuals to identify issues that affect them and find their own solutions. We support and advise volunteer-led actions in Oxfordshire, helping hundreds of volunteers fulfil many roles in their communities. We think that stronger, more sustainable communities are built using the skills and gifts that people already have.

The values and practice of CFO are rooted in human rights, social justice, and respect for diversity. In our projects we seek to achieve inclusion, remove barriers to involvement, and challenge racism and discrimination. Equality and inclusion create strong, creative, and dynamic places to live and work – we believe that an ongoing appraisal of how we can further those values is at the heart of CFO’s mission.

We provide placemaking services and this includes providing a wide range of planning services to communities in the Oxfordshire region. We are now looking for a talented Town Planner join our friendly team as Community Planning Officer. This is a busy, varied, and challenging role, where you will grow with the job.

We require a qualified Town Planner with a range of skills, a flexible approach, and a creative mind. The Community Planning Officer will:

· manage CFO’s portfolio of Neighbourhood Planning commissions

· actively seek new opportunities to broaden the clients with which CFO can provide planning services

· research, develop and assist in the delivery of new, community-focused planning services.

Working as part of a team this role will allow you to use your communication skills to their full extent – from hosting neighbourhood planning seminars to pitching CFO forward for new fee-earning commissions. The professional working environment at CFO is not unlike the planning environment where you already work, however the focus at CFO is on delivering valuable solutions to local planning issues and providing support to our local communities.

The role itself would suit someone who is currently working in a Planning Consultancy or for a Local Planning Authority. Candidates should either be MRTPI or able to become MRTPI in years to come. You must have practical planning experience gained in the UK Planning system and want to work in a flexible manner. To that extent all work patterns can be explored for this role.

This is a great opportunity to have a planning role which you truly feel passionate about. Join a fantastic, dedicated team and know that you are making a big difference to communities in Oxfordshire. Please apply straight away.

The closing date for the role is 26th November 2020 with interviews to take place throughout the process. We would therefore encourage you to apply immediately as we reserve the right to close applications before the closing date if we can draw a shortlist before the closing date. The post is offered fixed term for 2 years.

Please apply in confidence to our Retained Consultants, Lewis Davey by sending your CV to shaun@lewisdavey.com or contact on 07789 371470 for an informal discussion.
