Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be working with a specialist Retirement Developer on the hire of a Development Manager for their team in Northamptonshire. Your patch will cover the East & West Midlands.
The company is the UK's leading developer and manager of retirement communities and hold a majority share of the owner-occupied market. They have sold over 51,000 properties across more than 1,100 retirement developments since 1977!
Our client is open to your background, whether it be architectural, planning, engineering or pure project management. What they are looking for is demonstrable experience (ideally within a developer / house builder) across all aspects of the development cycle, from land acquisition to handover.
Primary Job Purpose
-Support the delivery of key business performance targets and of Service Level Agreements in order to meet wider company business objectives.
-Responsible for the successful delivery of a portfolio of sites in the development phase, from acquisition of the land through construction delivery and to First Occupation. Lead an internal and external project team consisting of experts in land purchase, architectural and technical design, planning, estimating, surveying, construction, pre-contracts, sales, Health and Safety and relevant external subject matter experts, in order to deliver the key milestone dates to agreed time, budget and quality of design, whilst adhering to the companies processes, policies and procedures.
-Support the Company culture and values and the delivery of high levels of business performance and customer satisfaction
Knowledge & Experience
-Significant practical experience is a pre-requisite, which must include several years' operating in a Project/ Construction Management post in a corporate environment or in private practice.
-Ability to manage all aspects of a project from land acquisition through to build start.
-Prior experience in managing and supervising a team of professionals is a pre-requisite for this position.
-Experience in dealing with local and statutory authorities is essential.
-Working knowledge of the planning system, building regulations and NHBC standards is essential
-Experience in presenting evidence at planning appeal is desirable.
Training & Development
The role will include ongoing coaching from the Senior Development Manager & Divisional Director who will work with you to help you realise your career objectives.
