How would you like to balance an amazing quality of life and an ambitious career with a multi-award winning planning service?

Plymouth is Britain’s Ocean City. Located on the stunning south coast of England you can enjoy spectacular views of Plymouth Sound, venue for the SailGP Season 2 in 2021 and bidding to be the UK’s first National Marine Park. This is a short walk to our thriving City Centre boasting great shopping at Drake Circus and the West End independent quarter, one of the UK’s largest Imax Cinema and 4DX at the newly opened Barcode, Theatre Royal Plymouth and the brand new £46m museum, art gallery and cultural centre ‘The Box’. That’s before you discover the historic Barbican, Royal William Yard, Dartmoor and wide range of beaches to enjoy on your door step!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Strategic Growth Team, the City Council’s highly experienced multi-discipline team charged with driving forward the City’s ambitious growth agenda through great partnership working and proactive planning. Not only will you lead the planning process for some of the City’s most important and complex development projects, but you will have the opportunity to work alongside and collaboratively with the teams Urban Designers, Architects, Landscape Architects and Historic Environment Officers and be exposed to the full work of the team including direct delivery of capital projects.

For this position you will need to demonstrate extensive Development Management experience on strategic and major projects, a proactive and delivery minded approach to your work, good project management skills and an excellent approach to partnership working and customer service through the planning system.
