Principal Planning Officer (Policy)
Salary range £42,077 - £44,155 p.a - Plus a £5K introductory payment.
The successful applicant will take a lead role in the implementation of the Borough’s new Local Plan, in particular leading on infrastructure planning. Responsibilities will also include preparation of individual plans, strategies, action plans, planning briefs and evidence as well as deputising for the Planning Policy Manager. The postholder will work closely with the Council’s Senior Urban Designer and across Council departments including with professionals working in property, housing, and regeneration.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be able to represent the Council and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, will be able to draft reports and explain a range of complex planning policy matters, and will mentor and manage more junior members of the team. Suitable planning qualifications as well as familiarity with the National Planning Policy Framework are essential. A full driving license is essential.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
