Development Management Senior Manager

Grade L: £53,367.00 - £57,122.00 per annum (pending cost of living uplift)

37 hours per week, permanent REF: POSN184125

The Job:

With innovative and large-scale housing developments such as the country’s largest self-build community at Graven Hill, the exemplar zero-carbon development at North West Bicester, and the redevelopment of a former Cold War airbase, Cherwell is committed to doing things differently.

We are an ambitious, growth focused organisation with a commitment to healthy place-shaping. We are a signatory to the Oxfordshire Housing and Growth Deal agreed with Government which supports £215m of investment for new homes and infrastructure across Oxfordshire. We have three urban areas all with planned growth situated within the Oxford-Cambridge Arc.  Cherwell is growing.

We are looking for Senior Manager to lead our Development Management service, to help identify areas for improvement and to implement change.  We need to ensure that the success of the Service in managing major growth and a high caseload is maintained whilst using the advantage of joint management with Oxfordshire County Council to review workflows and deliver digital transformation.

The Person:

We need someone with experience, drive and commitment to help deliver this change.  We need an experienced Development Management manager who will work closely with our planning and enforcement teams, councillors, partners and the development industry to ensure good and timely decision making, to support the delivery of growth, to raise the standard of design and to achieve healthy place shaping.

The Benefits:

The Council is an equal opportunities employer and has flexible working practices.

•         A generous annual leave entitlement

•         Opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme

•         Cycle to work scheme (after one years’ service)

•         Incremental pay award (awarded annually in April after one years’ service)

Closing date:            Sunday 25 October 2020

Interview date:        w/c Monday 09 November 2020
