Job Details
I am currently working with an Essex based Local Authority, who are looking to bring on an Interim Planning Policy Team Leader for an initial 3-month period, though this is likely to be extended. The authority is very busy at the moment, with a number of large scale applications in the pipeline. The council itself is in a beautiful, rural part of the country.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership for a small team of policy planners, including setting team targets, monitoring and appraising performance and coaching and developing staff potential
- Overseeing, project managing and preparing draft documents making up the council's local development plan(s)
- Providing and overseeing the provision fo advice on planning policy matters to internal and external customers

Previous Local Authority experience at Team Leader level is a necessity for this position, and membership of the RTPI would be looked upon favourably.
The council are able to offer a rate of between £45p/h - £50p/h, and there is potential for the post to be outside of IR35. This position will be purely remote to begin with, with constant reviews of this policy in line with government advice.
