Such an opportunity has arisen to join a busy Development Management Team within the Council’s planning service.
We are seeking someone with a proven background and interest in planning enforcement, with strong verbal and written communication skills and a strong customer focus to join the Development Management Team as an Enforcement Officer. You will need to be able to comfortable making detailed site visits and assessments of alleged breaches of planning control and dealing with customers face to face and via correspondence. You should be familiar with serving all forms of enforcement notices and confident in presenting yourself as a representative of the Council
The job will be wide-ranging and exciting, with an opportunity to deal with all types of enforcement cases, managing your own caseload while working with others in the Service and supporting other Services on Borough wide enforcement matters. The team is fast paced and seeks to work positively and proactively in enforcement and to work with planning officers to control unauthorised development and protect the community for local residents. You will be part of a sociable and supportive team with excellent opportunities to develop your understanding and for progression.
Key Experience & Skills:
- Evidence of working in a Local Planning Authority Enforcement department is essential;
- Interest in Planning Enforcement and wider planning issues;
- Record keeping and attention to detail;
- Ability to work with limited supervision on own initiative on own case load and part of a team on bigger projects;
- Evidence of having served Notices and enforcement best practice; Ability to communicate and negotiate to deal with difficult situations where diplomacy may be required
