This is an exciting role to project manage the delivery of the King Street Heritage Action Zone in the Wigan Town Centre Conservation Area. The Heritage Action Zone is a high-profile government initiative administered by Historic England that forms part of the ambitious plans to regenerate Wigan town centre. The role will ensure that projects are delivered on time, on specification and on budget so that by 2024, King Street is celebrated as the ‘go to’ place for residents and visitors to engage in cultural and leisure activities with something for everyone during the daytime and evening.

You will be a self-organised, positive and enthusiastic person with experience of project managing complex regeneration schemes. You will have a qualification in a built environment profession or in project management and be a member of, or eligibility for, the relevant professional body. You will have a detailed understanding and significant experience of managing funding programmes and capital budgets in a regeneration or development context. You will be an excellent communicator, able to lead and work effectively with a wide range of partners. You will have an interest in conservation and a commitment to helping make good development happen.

Wigan Council has been voted ‘Council of the Year’ at the 2019 LGC Awards and has recently published The Deal 2030, our ambitious plan for our borough.  We are signed up to the Greater ManchesterContinuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations. Wigan is a great place to live and work and the council truly values and recognises its staff as its greatest asset. The planning service is merged with new build housing and regeneration and major projects to form a Growth and Housing Service. This joins up expertise and assets to help deliver on the council’s ambitions for Our People, Our Place, Our Future through The Deal 2030. As an employer we like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits.
