Senior Planning Policy Officer

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the East of England in the search for a Senior Planning Policy Officer. The role will be offered on a full time, permanent basis in return for a competitive salary of up to £36,000 per annum (Plus Benefits).

The Council has recently consulted on its emerging single Local Plan covering strategic policies and site allocations (Regulation 18) and is now progressing toward Regulation 19 and the finalisation and examination of the Draft Plan.

The purpose of the role is to assist in the formation, presentation and adoption of planning policy and strategy and take the lead in a number of policy areas including but not limited to the site allocations/appraisal process, housing policies including adult care, affordable housing, five year housing land supply and other specified policy areas in relation to the production of the statutory Development Plan for the District.

The ideal candidate will already have sound experience of Local Plan processes and or development management and good knowledge of the recent legislation. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to take on a considerable variety of work including housing related work, master planning and partnership/project work through the wider Norfolk Strategic Framework and will be expected to present and act as an expert witness for the Council at the Local Plan examination. It would also be beneficial to have a degree & professional qualification in Town & Country planning as well as full membership of the RTPI.
