Ambitious Town Planning professional with diverse industry experience, at least 10 years in planning (most recently in the private sector) and practical experience of team or office management.
My client is seeking a well-rounded, commercially minded planner to take the lead in a number of areas in managing their Newcastle team and office. Key requirements of the role include:
- Managing medium/large scale, complex projects in a range of sectors;
- Maximising value from existing clients, and developing further clients in the region;
- Leading the team and office on a day to day basis;
- Playing a role in growing the Newcastle team;
Many of the company’s residential, commercial, mixed use and urban regeneration projects require site promotion as well as full applications, and therefore someone with experience spanning policy planning as well as development management, ideally with some experience gained in the public sector, would be ideal. However, every applicant will be considered on merit.
To be considered for this position, you must be a commercially driven, RTPI chartered Town Planner with a broad skill set who is able to pick up projects at any point in their process, be an effective and likeable leader and have the grit and determination to progress to the very top of your profession.
The company are great to work for. At a national level they are large, and you will benefit from this strength in numbers, but locally each office runs with considerable independence and you will have plenty of autonomy and opportunity to mould and direct for real change.
You will also be well rewarded. The starting salary for a newly promoted Director sits around £55k and £60k, but if you are already an experienced Planning Director with established client contacts in the north east then expect to earn up to £70k from day one. Plus you will receive a generous car allowance or company car, various benefits including a solid private pension and the opportunity to earn bonuses as a result of team and individual performance. You will receive 28 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays and the company operates a flexible working policy which continues to evolve.
