This is an exciting opportunity to grow your planning and project delivery experience, while making a lasting impact on one of London’s most vibrant and densely populated boroughs.

About Us

At Kensington and Chelsea, we have unmatched built heritage sitting alongside iconic retail centres, a vibrant specialist employment market, an international medical quarter and world class cultural attractions. We also have many challenges facing us. We’re not only home to the wealthy but also to some of the most deprived wards in London. So, we’re committed to delivering growth in the Borough, with homes for all, and have started our own ambitious housing programme. We’re developing new ways of engaging with all our residents and providing high-quality accessible infrastructure for now and future generations.

We’re looking for experienced and confident planners to help us make this happen.

As a high-performing planning department we deal with a wide range of applications, making us one of the busiest planning authorities in the country. We’re a dynamic forward-thinking team with a can-do approach and are always striving to improve our service. We’re also proud of our learning and development commitment and take pride in growing our own to create a strong and resilient spatial planning team.

Putting communities first and working together with respect and integrity are our values, and we want people who share these to come and work with us.

The Role

As well as leading on wider project delivery work to improve the vitality and viability of areas within the Borough, you’ll bring sites forward for development and head-up certain aspects of the delivery of larger individual sites.

This will involve you in delivering Design Frameworks to ensure the optimum use of sites and integrating new developments with existing communities. You’ll also implement an innovative community and business engagement strategy focused on the long-term involvement of local stakeholders in site delivery and wider Place-making projects. Your other areas of responsibility will include infrastructure, employment initiatives, affordable housing delivery and environmental assessment.

About You

With an RTPI-recognised degree level qualification in Town Planning or the equivalent, you should have a thorough knowledge of all relevant planning legislation, policies and procedures.

You’ll bring extensive experience of Town Planning, including large scale projects, housing delivery and guidance production. With this, you should have a sound knowledge of current issues and developments affecting planning, growth, urban regeneration, and local government in London and particularly, the Borough. We’re also looking for you to be confident in community engagement around housing delivery and advising Councillors, developers and other stakeholders on Planning issues. And with a successful track record of negotiating on complex development or project proposals, you should also have experience of viability and how this affects delivery.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

We are committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
