Hertsmere lies within southern Hertfordshire bordering the northern edge of Greater London. We have a unique combination of economic opportunities alongside a diverse townscape, villages and extensive areas of green belt land,meaning the borough provides an exciting opportunity to experience every aspect of the planning system. Our own offices benefit from being close to both the A1 (M) and M25 whilst Elstree and Borehamwood Station lies within Zone 6 and provides a direct rail link to London St Pancras.

This is a new and exciting position with a range of portfolio projects created to deliver Hertsmere’s ambition for sustainable economic growth. The post holder will be responsible for developing partnership links with key stakeholders and to promote investment in Hertsmere as a place for business opportunities, education & training and leisure, entertainment & cultural activities. The successful candidate will, in all projects, seek to promote health and wellbeing and tackle all forms of inequality through education, training, business liaison and through links to health and social care networks.

We are looking for someone with an appropriate professional qualification
equivalent to degree status in planning, urban regeneration, economics or
sociology. You will have a range of relevant experience commensurate with the requirements of the post, be able to adjust to demands and define priorities, work rapidly and accurately. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with senior managers within the council and external professionals and have excellent negotiating skills.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).
