Fareham Borough Council are looking for a driven and ambitious policy planner to help contribute to the development of our Local Plan as well as assisting in the preparation and review of a range of planning policy matters and helping to develop proposals to meet future development needs.

As part of Fareham’s vision where we strive for positive change, we’re looking for someone to bring creativity and provide guidance so we can create services, environments and communities that improve our Borough.

The Planning Strategy and Economic Development team are responsible for developing and implementing planning policies and strategies. Your role as a Principal Planner will involve taking the lead on key elements of this, ensuring that deadlines are met and engaging with senior managers, as well as having significant liaison with key partners and relevant external bodies. You will be able to articulate to internal and external audiences the strategy behind the Local Plan, and the evidence that supports it.

You will be an effective negotiator, enjoy working in a team environment and have good leadership skills as there will be some line management responsibilities supporting Planning Strategy team members.

We are a small Borough with a big range of projects – ranging from a Garden Village at Welborne through to master planning the Solent Enterprise Zone at Daedalus.

This is your opportunity to play your part in shaping the future of the services we deliver - so we’ll welcome your fresh ideas and innovative spirit.

For an informal discussion about this role please contact Gayle Wootton, Head of Planning Strategy and Economic Development on 01329 824328.

If you think you have the relevant experience and would be interested in this exciting role then please email a covering letter and your CV quoting reference PG010 in the subject to:  planningjobs@fareham.gov.uk
