Planning Enforcement Officer (Development Management)

Permanent (37 Hours a Week)

Duration of contract and/or part time hours

Salary: £ 26317 - £ 29636 per annum

Due to the retirement of three long-standing and valued members of our team, and a minor re-structure of the team, four permanent vacancies have opened up to join our friendly Development Management team and gain significant experience of working within a progressive Authority.

This additional Enforcement Officer position has been created to increase focus on the enforcement of planning in Neath Port Talbot and offers an exciting opportunity to gain or build upon your experience in an Authority which takes planning enforcement seriously. You will deal with a wide range of enforcement investigations and be expected to make recommendations on the most appropriate course of action to remedy breaches of planning to ensure the integrity of the planning system. Where action is necessary you will then progress the case through to formal service of Notices, appeals or prosecutions.

You will also have responsibility for a personal caseload of planning applications which arise from your enforcement investigations.

Our modern offices are based in Baglan Energy Park, Neath, though we are all currently working largely remotely at home due to Covid-19 and there are likely to be opportunities in future for such remote working to continue for some of the working week.

The post requires a planning qualification to Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) standard or relevant Development Management experience.

You will also need excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills, and a strong commitment to customer care. It is also essential that you have the ability to travel throughout the County Borough.

For an informal discussion, please contact the Development Manager – Planning, Steve Ball, on 01639 686727 or email s.ball@npt.gov.uk

Please note that interviews for these positions may need to be held remotely.

You may apply online, download an application pack or contact the HR Employment Support Team by e-mail at jobs@npt.gov.uk or by telephone (01639) 686837 quoting the post title and reference number.

Closing date: 12 noon, Thursday 30th July 2020
