Be part of our Growing City

Head of Planning Policy

Salary £50,735 - £55,443 Per Annum

Would you like to help us grow Carlisle? Help drive forward an ambitious series of developments that will shape the future of our city?

Carlisle is the Capital of Cumbria, the City of the Lake District and the beating heart of the Borderlands.

Be part of our team and support Carlisle’s growth ambitions and the part it plays in the sub-region. We want to strengthen the area’s economy and provide a wide range of high-quality developments which make up a dynamic and successful city.

This ambition and potential is recognised by government. Carlisle is a lead partner and at the epicentre of the unique Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal partnership. Kingmoor Park Enterprise Zone is one of the largest in the north west and features in the latest Northern Powerhouse Investment prospectus. The new planned neighbourhoods that will form St Cuthbert’s Garden Communities will deliver 10,000 new homes to the south of the city.

The Head of Planning Policy is fundamental to the delivery of the growth agenda. The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of planning policy and physical regeneration. The successful candidate will combine commercial acumen with public sector experience, respecting the needs of our local communities.

This post is full time and permanent post that will attract a relocation allowance of circa £5,000.

We also offer an excellent benefits package with flexible working, a generous pension scheme and fabulous development opportunities.
