Chesterfield is a great place to live, work and play, with a proud heritage and significant ambitions for the future of its communities. We are centrally located with excellent transport connectivity, with a future that includes an HS2 station.

The Council is strengthening its commitment to economic development and regeneration. It recognises this is even more important as we manage the recovery from the economic impacts of Covid-19.

We are also the gateway town to the Peak District National Park and close to two of England’s core cities. The Council plays an active role in the D2N2 LEP and works closely with a number of key stakeholders to ensure the regeneration ambition is achieved.

As part of that approach we have formed a Joint Growth Project Delivery Unit with Derbyshire County Council to accelerate and support the delivery of our key growth projects.

To realise our economic growth ambitions, as set out in our Growth Strategy, we are looking for a dynamic self-starter with an entrepreneurial skill set and a track record in developing and delivering regeneration projects, from conception through to completion.

You will have the confidence and proven ability to lead the Joint Growth Project Delivery Unit tasked with delivering:

  • Chesterfield’s key regeneration schemes and to drive forward complex projects
  • Negotiating and managing the relationships between stakeholders, including, developers, consultants, external funders and contractors

This will require regular liaison with senior managers, elected members and a wide range of stakeholders to ensure the efficient delivery of projects on the ground.

You will support the Assistant Director for Economic Growth and work alongside the Economic Development Manager in delivering the development and implementation of a strategic programme of regeneration projects.

This is an exciting and challenging role and we are looking for candidates with a balanced professional and technical experience for regeneration issues with excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective partnership working to co-ordinate the direct delivery of projects.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with drive to succeed and take personal and professional responsibility for the development and delivery of projects.
The Council has fully adopted agile working policies to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.

We want to hear from people passionate about the role that regeneration can play in positively changing places. If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please get in touch with Neil Johnson at neil.johnson@chesterfield.gov.uk to arrange a discussion, or to apply please use the application form below and refer to the attached Job description and person specification when filling out your application form.
