Ashfield District Council has an exciting new opportunity for a Forward Planning and Economic Growth Team Manager to work within the Planning & Regulatory Service. Based in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire you will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return we will offer you a competitive salary of £42,683 - £45,591 per annum plus casual car user payment as necessary. We also offer an attractive package of in-work benefits.

 Located in west Nottinghamshire, Ashfield consists of three towns surrounded by beautiful countryside. Rich in natural, cultural and industrial heritage and with excellent transport links, including its proximity to the M1 and A38, Ashfield is in easy reach to surrounding towns and cities such as Nottingham, Chesterfield and Sheffield.

 As one of the largest employers in the area we provide a wide range of services across the District including: housing and assets, waste and environment, community protection, environmental health, planning and customer services to name just a few. We are an innovative, ambitious and forward thinking Council.  

Ashfield has been successful in demonstrating a track record in the delivery of regeneration projects and both employment and housing growth and is currently able to access up to £25m each for two of our three town centres, through the Government’s Town Deals funding. We are also through to the second round of the Future High Streets Fund for Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Forward Planning and Economic Growth Team Manager role

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team, at an exciting time where the Council is establishing a fresh vision for growth and place shaping.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual, passionate about place-making We are seeking a highly driven, motivated and confident person to join the team at Ashfield District Council, developing future plans for the District including planning and economic development and regeneration policies; ensuring that appropriate representations are made regarding national, regional and county policies and those of adjoining districts.

This fast paced and varied role will involve Partnership working and representing the Council with a range of public, private and voluntary sector organisations involved in the future vision of the Council.

You will provide leadership and management of technical, administrative and professional staff and deputise for the Assistant Director Planning and Regulatory Services as required.

A widespread knowledge of Town Planning and Economic Development and associated legislation along with excellent communication skills are essential.

 Planning, regeneration and economic development are corporate priorities and you will be a key player in delivering a proactive planning service in the District, for the benefit of our residents and businesses.
