This is an exciting time to work with one of the largest shared planning services in the country and in the dynamic areas of Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire. The range of opportunities within this unique Shared Service provides you with an unparalleled opportunity to develop your career, working in one of the most innovative areas in the UK, on some of the most exciting and challenging social, economic and environmental issues which we face in 21st century local government planning strategy.

We positively encourage flexible working arrangements across our Cambourne and Cambridge City locations.

What sets us apart from other organisations is our wide range of projects and complexity of partnerships, from global life science and tech clusters, regeneration schemes providing new low carbon districts and developing the first joint Local Plan in an area that has the
fastest-growing city economy in the country.

Greater Cambridge offers a unique opportunity to work within the beautiful historic City of Cambridge, home to world renowned universities, hospitals and cutting-edge science, as well as delivering high quality modern developments within the rural areas of South Cambridgeshire.  Our combined growth agenda includes a range of new settlements within South Cambridgeshire and urban extensions to Cambridge. The emerging Greater Cambridge Joint Local Plan will have to be one of the most innovative planning strategies produced to provide a framework for growth in an area embracing the Cambridge to Oxford national infrastructure priorities, East West Rail and a new metro, balanced against the commitment towards a zero carbon economy and designing places and interventions that can address the growing inequalities faced in the region.

We are committed to delivering a digital first approach to plan making and data driven evidence and we have excellent relationships with local and national innovators in both service design and digitising planning practice from a local government perspective. If you would like to work in a truly innovative and exciting place then come and join us.

The support capabilities of the Policy Planning Strategy and Economy team will be enhanced by an additional Planning Policy GIS/Data Technical Officer to provide a full range of spatial mapping and data related technical services, including monitoring and survey work. Responsibilities include leading the spatial data input and analysis into emerging strategic, local and neighbourhood plans and similar policy, strategy and economy documents, especially in the preparation of the new Local Plan and other planning policy guidance.

This appointment will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

Closing Date for Applications: 9.00am, Monday, 30 March
