Job Details

We have an exciting opportunity in the Development Management team for someone with a passion for planning looking to use their skills to make an impact on new development in the District as part of our growth agenda.

About the person:

You will be a qualified planner with at least 5 years' experience. You might be looking for your first managerial role or a new opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge. As investing in our staff is important, we provide CPD training opportunities and pay RTPI membership fees.

We are looking for a new team member who displays leadership potential, who has experience in dealing with complex, major applications and leading change initiatives, is able to work collaboratively and has a positive approach to finding solutions.

About the team:

As part of the Growth directorate, the team plays a key role in delivering new housing, town centre regeneration and attracting new businesses to the District. Our ethos is not about speed and numbers at any cost - our newly formed, collaborative approach to achieving high quality design is unique within Lincolnshire. The landscape and heritage assets of the District make it an attractive place to live and work, with Stamford being our Georgian highlight. As our Local Plan reaches adoption, delivering on housing allocations is a major driver of our workload. The Council's arm's length companies are some of our key customers as we undertake our own building programmes for new housing, upgrading leisure centres and business space. We are at the forefront of digital transformation and flexible working. At South Kesteven, you won't find a paper file on your desk, you will be signing off applications electronically and intelligent automation is dramatically changing our approach to support processes.

About the role:

You will be responsible for your own small caseload of applications but will also be expected to work alongside other officers across the Council on complex, strategic schemes and projects. This role will give you the opportunity to apply and develop your skills and experience across complex, major development types. You will be expected to show leadership skills and to mentor our more junior staff who are developing through our 'grow your own' agenda. The role will enable you to work in a flexible and agile way.

This is a great career move for someone who wants to work for an ambitious, agile and commercially aware authority that has growth as a key corporate priority. We hope to give you the opportunity to flourish and grow in your career.

If you are passionate about delivering high quality development, then we would love to hear from you.

We are committed to caring for our employees both inside and outside the workplace and provide a variety of benefits, such as a generous pension scheme, free parking and access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.  Moreover, we have created a variety of options to help our employees achieve a healthy work life balance. This includes a generous leave entitlement of 25 days (rising to 30 days after 5 years' service), flexitime for many posts, cycle to work scheme, computer scheme, car lease plan, healthcare plan, travel season ticket loan, RTPI membership and a variety of other staff/family friendly benefits and discounts.

Company

Surrounded by attractive rural Lincolnshire countryside within easy reach of Leicester, Nottingham and Peterborough, South Kesteven benefits from excellent communication links with all major centres in the country and the rest of the East Midlands.
