Located in outer west London, the borough of Hillingdon has over 300,000 residents and covers an area of 44 square miles making it the second largest London borough. In terms of spatial planning, Hillingdon is a borough of contrasts. The area to the north of the A40 is semi-rural with the smaller centres of Northwood, Ruislip and Harefield, whereas the south of the borough is a dense urban area comprising the metropolitan town centre of Uxbridge, district centres at Hayes and West Drayton which will soon benefit from the Elizabeth Line. Excellent transport links via the M4 and A40, the Metropolitan, Piccadilly and Central Lines, and Heathrow Airport in the very south of the borough also make Hillingdon a key gateway for the UK and central London.

About the job

This is a Full-Time Permanent position working 36 hours a week. Applicants that require part time hours (21.6 hours/3 days) will also be considered. Please state your hours of availability within your application.  

The post-holder will take a lead role in the Development Management Team, the post holder would also be responsible for one of the Area Planning Committees and presenting cases to members. This is an exciting post which will take a lead in shaping the delivery of future planning submissions, working in conjunction with the Major Applications Manager and the Contracts Manager.

About the person

The ideal candidate should have relevant Town and Country Planning or equivalent qualifications; be a member of the RTPI or equivalent body; be able to demonstrate good experience and knowledge across planning with knowledge of dealing with applications and leading a team; IT literate; highly organised and an effective team worker. The successful candidate also needs to demonstrate a positive and proactive approach to leading the delivery of large scale projects.
