This is in tandem with delivering policy objectives of promoting high quality and innovative development while conserving the historic character of the Borough.

Who are we

Wandsworth is a thriving Inner London Borough on the southern banks of the River Thames that is steeped in a diverse history.  The borough features landmarks such as the iconic Battersea Power Station, Ram Brewery and Clapham Junction Station, while being acknowledged for its famous green spaces such as Wandsworth, Clapham and Tooting Bec Commons, Putney Heath and the Grade II* listed Battersea Park. The borough also comprises a rich mix of vibrant and diverse neighbourhoods including Battersea, Tooting, Putney and Balham.

The planning team has a reputation for working proactively with developers and local community to bring forward innovative, high quality developments, including within Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area, Wandsworth Town, Battersea Riverside and the Le Corbusier inspired Alton Estate.

The London Borough of Wandsworth together with the Borough of Richmond upon Thames present a unique opportunity to be part of a sociable and supportive team who are working together to create an effective shared staffing arrangement across both boroughs.

Who are you

  • The ideal person for one of these roles will hold an RTPI accredited planning qualification and be able to demonstrate good experience of Development Management either through local planning authority or private industry exposure.
  • You’ll have the ability to read and assess plans, negotiate with developers to bring forward high quality developments, write accurate and concise reports, as well as meet tight deadlines.
  • You will have an excellent knowledge of planning legislation and policy at local, regional, and national levels as well as strong communication and customer-care skills.
  • While you will have the ability to work flexibly, as part of a busy and high performing team, we will provide you with opportunities to undertake relevant training to help you develop in your role and further progress your career.
