Overview

A great opportunity exists for an experienced and creative Urban Designer, with at least 10 years of experience, to join a leading Urban Design team in London.

This consultancy is widely recognised as a leader in planning and development sectors and a 'Best Places to Work in Property' by Property Week magazine. On behalf of our client, we are looking for bright, creative and committed people who can deliver high-quality work and outcomes for our clients.

Our client is owned by an employee benefit trust and is run and managed for the benefit of its staff with no obligations to external shareholders. The profits are therefore reinvested into the business and shared with staff through bonuses.



Responsibilities

In this role, you will focus on residential developments but you will also produce layouts for commercial and mixed-use developments. Our client has a range of design projects across the country and this role will involve working with other regional offices to assist them with various development schemes as well as playing a major role in continuing to build the company's reputation, from the London office.

You will need to have excellent urban design skills and the ability to produce drawings and visual representations in order to communicate projects. We are looking for a designer who is able to produce high-quality drawings by hand and electronically. You should be confident in using a range of software packages such as AutoCad, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Word.



Qualifications

We will expect all candidates to hold one or more degrees in planning/urban design/architecture/landscape design. Generally, we look for at least a 2:1 or equivalent at first-degree level.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality work (both drawn and written), together with good analytical, communication, interpersonal, and writing skills. The role will require working on a number of projects, so a proven ability to manage your own time and workload within tight timescales and the ability to problem solve is critical. You will also have market credibility with a proven ability to win new work and clients, and nurture existing client relationships to win repeat business.
